All things nopCommerce: The Annual nopCommerce Conference 2016

Last week folded up with all the excitement of the second nopCommerce Annual Conference held in the European Capital of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Developers, store owners, marketing and e-commerce geeks united for two stimulating and information-packed “nopCommerce Days.” While far from all the action, we eagerly shadowed the event to get a lowdown of all that was unfolding.

The event included an impressive line-up of experts including three keynote speakers - Andrei Mazulnitsyn, CEO, nopCommerce, Valery Jacobs from Microsoft and Chris Out of RockBoost.

The conference had schedules for experienced developers from the nopCommerce Community as well as store owners interested in the marketing aspect of nopCommerce. Eight speakers spoke in simultaneous ‘tracks’ for developers and store owners. There were four workshops in all – three covered development topics aimed as a preparation to the nopCommerce developer certification program while one covered the administration process especially for store owners. While developers got to discuss technical aspects, the store owner track touched upon important aspects of successfully managing a nopCommerce website including payments, logistics and boosting business.

This was the second annual conference held by nopCommerce. The previous edition titled ‘NopDevDays 2015’ was limited to developers as the name suggested. It hosted 65 delegates from 14 countries in Amsterdam. This year, while Amsterdam was a repeat location, picked as the ‘official European capital of nopCommerce,’ the open source e-commerce solutions company decided to expand the community jamming to include a very crucial part of a successful nopCommerce website – managing and leveraging online stores. So, store owners and marketers weren’t ignored, the conference gave them ample space to learn and discuss.

Talks for store owners included the story of a highly successful e-commerce start-up, biponee.com, based in Bangladesh, the power of nopCommerce for building a platform for B2B store owners, as well as case studies on leveraging nopCommerce based websites for business.

Some of the talks for developers included ‘how to be a successful nopCommerce extension vendor by Milen Kovachev of nop Templates, being successful in selling and providing development services and nop commerce optimisation. You can see all the video presentations from the conference here.

As nopCommerce continues to become an increasingly popular open source e-commerce platform there’s nothing like connecting and networking with the community for a great time of more learning.
